Those three good-looking stars of the show, I’m talking the Fab Three, the Trio Terrific, the purveyors of the one and only 3guysgolf.com (this very site!)–the essentialest reading since the latest volume in the epic Jokes for the John series–actually played golf together last Thursday for the very first time. That it has rained in Biblical fashion almost every day since may be some kind of heavenly commentary on this awesome confluence of golfing talent.

We added plenty of commentary of our own–as well as a fourth, Jerry Carbone, still reigning as Vermont Librarian of the Year, as witness. We threw a few pars out there, a vast harvest of bogeys, and not a few others as well. In general, we sprayed it like a garden hose around the front nine at Brattleboro Country Club.

It was a pleasure to get out; for a variety of reasons I hadn’t picked up the sticks in awhile, so I was happy to be playing fairly well, once I was finished butchering the second hole. (I birdied the par-5 seventh, giving me an even 12 on the two par-5s, and wound up one under bogey golf for the nine. Not bad for me.)

Baring any other heavenly interference, this won’t be the last time the 3 Guys play together. Why it took us so long in the first place is the puzzler.
